With Venice now charging an entrance fee, and worldwide protests against over-tourism, visiting many popular destinations is becoming ever more problematic.  It’s hard to know how this will all play out, but 30 years of travelling throughout Italy have suggested some ways of maximising enjoyment of the country’s delights while minimising the need to struggle against the tourist Tsunami.  

With examples from Venice to Sicily, and various points in-between, this illustrated talk will describe some of the ways of dodging the crowds.
