Postwar Italy experienced a profound economic and cultural rebirth, expressed most vividly in everyday design. Emerging from the trauma of conflict, Italian designers instinctively captured the optimism and energy of a transforming nation. During the boom years from the 40s to the 70s, consumer-oriented design spoke a joyful visual language that reflected a bright new world.
Driven by shared values of opportunity, prosperity, and hope, the mid-century creative movement known as Modernariato fulfilled a societal longing for material wellbeing and a characterful, confident aesthetic.
This talk will explore iconic examples of Italian graphic, product, and interior design, highlighting their enduring legacy and contemporary relevance.
