David Iacopini will give an introduction to the geodynamics of the Mediterranean and the related regional tectonics of Italy, which have created the current structure and shape of the Italian peninsula. This will give a framework for the understanding of earthquake and volcanic activity throughout the Italian peninsula (and of the linked oil and gas reservoir).
Luca de Siena will then talk about some of the major volcanoes (Vesuvio, Flegrei, Etna) and their effects on Italian society.
A talk by David Iacopini and Luca De Siena.
